The United States has taken a major step in supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression, with President Joe Biden confirming yesterday at the White House that arms are on their way to Kiev. This came after the US Senate approved a $95 billion law for aid and weapons for Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan.

The move was first reported by Politico, which revealed that the US had already sent ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine. This was later confirmed by the White House National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, who stated that President Biden has directed his team to provide Ukraine with a significant number of ATACMS missiles for use within their territory.

Sullivan emphasized that this aid package is not just an investment in Ukraine’s security, but also in Europe’s security and that of the United States. The missiles, with a range of approximately 260 kilometers, have already been used twice by Kiev and have proven to be an effective tool in defending against Russian aggression.

President Biden highlighted the importance of moving quickly to send the necessary ammunition for air defense, artillery, missile systems, and armored vehicles to Ukraine. He stressed that this aid package is crucial for supporting Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression and maintaining peace in Europe. Despite delays and obstacles in getting the funding approved, the President underscored his commitment to supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression.

Biden also warned of the potential consequences if Putin were to attack a NATO ally, stating that the US would be obligated to come to their aid under Article 5 of the NATO collective defense agreement. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his gratitude for the US military aid package, emphasizing the importance of fully implementing the agreements reached between him and President Biden.

The aid package for Ukraine has been welcomed by both leaders as a vital step in supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression. The US and Ukraine are working together to ensure that the aid is delivered promptly and effectively to assist Ukraine in its fight for sovereignty.
