Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed concerns that his country may lose the war against Russia if Congress does not approve a military aid package. He emphasized the importance of the aid in repelling the invasion of Russian troops, as Ukraine has been facing conflict with Russia since February 2022. The US is currently considering a 60 billion dollar aid package for Ukraine.

Zelensky warned that without American help, Ukraine would struggle to survive and noted that if they were to lose the war, other countries would be at risk of attack. However, the approval of the aid package is currently blocked in the House of Representatives in Washington, where Republicans hold the majority. Supporters of Donald Trump in the House are in disagreement over immigration regulations and this is holding up the approval process.

In recent days, Zelensky has stressed the urgency of the aid package for Ukraine. Ukrainian soldiers are facing challenges as they are forced to ration their ammunition while confronting a strong Russian army. The conflict has seen a major counteroffensive by the Kiev army in summer 2023, but Russia has advanced into eastern Ukraine and targeted its energy infrastructure.

The situation in Ukraine remains precarious as thousands of civilians have been left without power due to attacks on energy infrastructure. Zelensky’s plea for US military aid is seen as crucial to ensuring that Ukraine can continue to fight against Russian aggression and protect its citizens from harm.
