Patrick Mahomes is an impressive young quarterback who has had a successful career with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, he recognizes that he has not yet achieved enough to be considered the greatest of all time. In just six seasons as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback, Mahomes has already won three Super Bowl rings and was named Super Bowl MVP three times. He has also won two NFL MVP awards and led the league in passing yards and touchdowns.

Despite these accomplishments, Mahomes knows that there is still a long way to go before he can be considered among the greatest of all time. In an interview with TIME, Mahomes reflected on his career so far and acknowledged that while he believes he has had one of the best starts to a career, other legendary quarterbacks like Tom Brady, Joe Montana, and Dan Marino are still in the discussion for GOAT status. Brady, in particular, had an incredible 20-year career with seven Super Bowl wins and numerous MVP awards.

Mahomes understands that building a legacy in the NFL requires sustained excellence year after year. He admires players like Brady, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers who maintained a high level of play throughout their careers. Looking ahead, Mahomes knows that his career is far from over and is focused on continuing to improve and achieve more success on the field. While he hopes to close the gap with Brady in terms of Super Bowl wins and MVP awards, he remains humble and acknowledges that only time will tell where he ranks among the all-time greats. As he continues to play and achieve success in the NFL, Mahomes is determined to let his performance on the field speak for itself and hopes to be remembered as one of the best when his career comes to a close.
