Nearly 4,000 Cybertruck cars in the United States are being recalled by Tesla to address an issue with the accelerator pedal becoming stuck when pressed. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that soap residue used as a lubricant during assembly of the pedals may cause the pedal cover to come off and become stuck in the upholstery around the footwell when pressed. This can potentially lead to unintended acceleration and an increased risk of a crash.

Tesla began delivering Cybertruck vehicles to customers in late November after several delays, but the recall is expected to affect practically all Cybertrucks that the company has delivered since launch. The issue has been prompted by customer reports on social media related to problems with the gas pedal, which led NHTSA to be in contact with Tesla for more information.

While no crashes or injuries have been reported due to accelerator pedal failure, Tesla has postponed deliveries of Cybertruck cars for some customers, though no reason was given for the delay. Customers affected by the recall should contact Tesla for necessary repairs as soon as possible to prevent any further complications or accidents caused by this faulty component.
