On April 3, Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei was struck by a devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake that resulted in the deaths of nine people and injuries to over a thousand individuals. The intense footage captured on social media showcased buildings shaking, bridges swaying, and individuals desperately seeking shelter amidst the chaos.

Amongst the many harrowing scenes that emerged from the disaster, two videos have gained particular attention on social media. One video depicts a man struggling in a rooftop swimming pool amid powerful waves caused by the tremor. Despite the perilous circumstances, the man remains composed and stays in place. Another video shows water cascading down a skyscraper like a waterfall from a rooftop swimming pool.

Reports from news agencies state that this earthquake is the most powerful to hit Taiwan in 25 years, with officials cautioning about potential aftershocks in the days to come. Taiwanese officials compare the severity of this quake to the 7.6 magnitude earthquake that struck the nation in 1999, claiming 2,400 lives.

He assured Taiwan of India’s support as they work towards rebuilding their city and restoring normalcy to their lives.
