The state of North Carolina has recently legalized sports gambling, and it has been well-received by the residents. Within the first three weeks of its legalization, over $655 million was wagered, according to a report from the N.C. State Lottery Commission. This includes both promotional and paid revenue, resulting in North Carolinians winning a total of $590,750,303 from their wagers during this time period.

In March alone, the gross wagering revenue amounted to $66,496,213. It’s worth noting that under state law, an 18% tax is imposed on the gross wagering revenue generated by sports wagering activity.
