Stony Brook women’s basketball head coach Ashley Langford has been recognized for her achievements by being selected for the annual Advancement of Blacks In Sports (ABIS) Basketball Coaches Watch List. This is the third time in her career that she has been featured on the ABIS Watch List, which showcases standout Black men and women head, associate, and assistant coaches in NCAA basketball.

In her third season with the Seawolves, Langford received her first CAA Coach of the Year honor and led the team to their first-ever CAA Regular Season Championship. She also earned the program’s first-ever CAA Coach of the Year accolade, with players like Gigi Gonzalez being awarded CAA Player of the Year and All-CAA First Team, and Sherese Pittman and Khari Clark being named to the All-CAA Second Team. Langford became the fastest coach in program history to reach 50 wins and was selected for the mid-season watch list for the 2024 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Award.
