Despite the looming weather conditions, there are three key matchups in Section 4-5A softball that will have a significant impact on determining the section leaders heading into the weekend. The section standings are incredibly close, with just one game separating all six teams. Bethel Park currently leads the section with a 2-1 record, while Upper St. Clair sits at 1-2. Trinity, Connellsville, Peters Township, and Thomas Jefferson are all tied at 1-1.

On Friday, Bethel Park will host Connellsville, Trinity will visit Thomas Jefferson, and Peters Township will welcome Upper St. Clair as these teams battle for the top spot in Section 4-5A. The outcome of these games will play a crucial role in shaping the section standings. In addition to these matchups, two softball showdowns will take place in Section 1 to determine the leaders in different classifications. In Section 1-2A, Riverside (2-1) will face Neshannock (3-0), with both teams tied for first place in the section at 2-0. Meanwhile, in Section 1-A, South Side (3-2) will host two-time defending champion Union (4-0). South Side leads the section with a 3-0 record
