Kirsten Neuschäfer, a South African sailor, has been nominated for the Laureus World Sports Awards for her remarkable accomplishments in 2023. She is the sole sailing nominee for the event, which celebrates individuals and teams in the world of sports for their achievements throughout the year.

Neuschäfer made history by becoming the first woman to win a solo round-the-world race, crossing the finish line at Les Sables d’Olonne in France on April 27 after over 235 days at sea. This achievement not only earned her the 2023 Rolex World Sailor of the Year award but also has her nominated in the Laureus World Action Sportsperson of the Year category.
