The Mississippi State Department of Health is bringing a fresh perspective to its upcoming “Be in Good Health” symposium. Officials have announced that the event will feature a gospel choir competition, along with insightful talks from health experts and free health screenings. The symposium will take place on Saturday at the Jackson Convention Complex, starting at 8:30 a.m. and running until 2 p.m.

The gospel choir competition will showcase at least eight choirs, including Anderson United Methodist Church Praise Team, Pastor J Artie Stuckey & VOR, and Jemero Carter & Kingdomology. The event is being organized by the Office of Health Equity and the Community Engagement Center of the Jackson Heart Study.

Attendees can expect a day filled with soulful music, valuable health information, and the opportunity to get important health screenings.
