A 3-year-old child was playing outside when he was attacked by two Beagle dogs from a neighbor’s house. Each dog weighed about 25 kg, causing the child’s right kidney to rupture and his condition to be critical. The child was rushed to Phu Tho Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital where Dr. Nguyen Duc Lan, Head of Pediatric Surgery Department, treated him with a urinary catheter, antibiotics, and blood transfusion. Dr. Lan emphasized the importance of closely monitoring the child and providing emergency surgery if needed.

In another case, a 4-year-old patient was bitten by a domestic dog on the head and right arm, with multiple scratches on the body, including lacerations to the scalp. Parents and caregivers are advised not to let children play with dogs or cats, especially large or unfamiliar animals. In case of an animal bite, the child should be taken to a medical facility for treatment and vaccination. Pet owners should ensure their animals are fully vaccinated and restrained when taken out in public.

It is essential to prioritize the safety of children around animals and seek immediate medical attention in case of an attack. Pet owners should also take responsibility for ensuring their pets are properly vaccinated and controlled to prevent harm to others. By working together, we can create a safer environment for all members of our community.
