Sheryl Crow, a nine-time Grammy Award winner, is facing financial struggles in the music industry. Record sales have plummeted due to the rise of streaming services like Spotify, leaving artists like Crow struggling to make ends meet. To survive, she has started selling her songs for use in TV commercials.

Crow’s debut album, Tuesday Night Music Club, was a huge success and sold over 15 million copies worldwide. However, her 2019 release Threads only sold 40,000 copies, highlighting the challenges artists face in the current music landscape. In an interview with Bill Maher on his podcast, Crow expressed her frustration with the industry and lamented the lack of financial stability for artists.

A source close to Crow revealed that she once viewed licensing songs for commercials as selling out but now sees it as a necessary step to survive in the music business. The changing landscape of the industry has forced Crow to adapt and find new ways to generate income despite her previous reservations.

In an interview with In Touch magazine, a friend of Crow revealed that she is saddened by the state of the music business but understands that she must evolve to stay afloat. The days of selling millions of records are long gone and artists like Crow must find alternative methods to support themselves in an industry that has drastically transformed in recent years.
