Russian authorities have been warned by Tehran of a potential large-scale terrorist operation that could take place on their soil, according to reports by Reuters citing three anonymous sources. This warning was issued before the tragic attack on the Crocus City Hall concert hall in Krasnogorsk on March 22, which has been identified as one of the most significant terrorist incidents in the country’s recent history.

Despite this warning, Russian authorities have not officially commented on the involvement of “Islamic State” in terrorist activities and have instead pointed fingers at Ukraine. However, Kiev vehemently denies any involvement in such activities. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that he is not aware of any warnings from Iran regarding a terrorist attack on Russian soil. The United States and its allies have also issued alerts about potential terrorist threats in major Russian cities, particularly during concerts and events.

The US and Iran have hostile relations, but the Russian Federal Security Service acknowledged that the US had provided information about the attack preparation, albeit in a general and nonspecific manner. The tragic events at the Crocus City Hall highlight the complex and interconnected nature of global security challenges.
