In need of a replacement for their current star placekicker, Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer has announced that Graham Nicholson, the winner of the Lou Groza Award as the nation’s top placekicker last season, will be joining the Crimson Tide. The former Miami of Ohio All-American made his commitment on social media over the weekend.

Nicholson had an impressive record last season, making 27 out of 28 field goals for the RedHawks and converting 35 out of 36 extra-point attempts. He is notably the first Lou Groza Award winner from the Mid-American Conference. One of his career highlights includes making a 52-yard field goal against Bowling Green, in addition to scoring a total of 113 points last season, which is the fourth-highest in program history. As a three-year starter, Nicholson holds the Miami career record for making 84.5% of his field goal attempts.

The move by Nicholson comes as he looks to further his football career and compete at a higher level. With his skills and accolades, he is sure to be a valuable asset to the Crimson Tide as they continue their quest for success on the gridiron.
