British sprinter CJ Ujah has been named in Great Britain’s squad for the upcoming World Athletics Relays, marking his return to competition since serving a doping ban. Ujah was banned for 22 months after testing positive for prohibited substances at the Tokyo Olympics but was cleared of intentionally doping. The event is set to take place in the Bahamas on 4-5 May and will serve as a qualifying event for the relay competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Reece Prescod, another member of the Tokyo squad, has also been named in the relay team despite leaving the squad prior to last year’s World Championships. The head of sprints, hurdles, and relays for UK Athletics noted that the team has faced challenges but is motivated and focused on reaching Paris. Among the women’s squad, Asha Philip and Imani-Lara Lansiquot have been named, while Dina Asher-Smith and Daryll Neita are not included.

The full squad includes a mix of experienced and new athletes, indicating a promising future for British relay racing. At the previous World Championships, Great Britain won mixed 4x400m silver and bronze medals in addition to medals in the women’s 4x100m and 4x400m, and the men’s 4x400m events.
