The recent military exercises between the US, Japan, and the Philippines have sparked tensions in the South China Sea. According to Marcos, these exercises will shift the balance of power in Southeast Asia, Asia, and the South China Sea in the future. However, China has a different perspective on the matter.

In an official statement, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stated that the exercises will have a destructive effect on regional security. In response, the Philippine government highlighted China’s aggressive behavior, exaggerated claims, and construction of military bases in the region.

The People’s Liberation Army’s actions in creating artificial islands and building military bases in the South China Sea have escalated tensions between China and its neighbors. In response to this escalation, the Philippine and US navies will be rehearsing storming fortified islands to demonstrate their capabilities to China.

The war of words between China and the Philippines has raised concerns in Washington about the risk of military escalation in the South China Sea. While there is hope that increased US military presence will deter further attacks on Philippine ships by China, Beijing has responded by sending more ships to disputed areas and increasing patrols.
