A groundbreaking discovery in the field of medicine has led to the development of a new drug, Resdifera, which promises to revolutionize the treatment of fatty liver disease. This oral medication, taken daily in pill form, targets a specific component released in the liver that is linked to thyroid gland activity.

A study involving 1759 patients demonstrated that taking either 80 or 100 milligrams of Resdifera significantly improved liver conditions in those with fatty liver disease, preventing the progression to cirrhosis and potential organ failure. The drug is set to become available in the US within the coming month through a limited pharmacy chain. While its arrival in Israel is still uncertain, drugs approved by the FDA are typically approved by the Israeli Ministry of Health as well.

Professor Stephen Harrison, a leading researcher on Resdifera and an expert on liver disease, emphasized the importance of this breakthrough drug in treating a serious condition like fatty liver disease. By reducing the need for liver transplants and lowering mortality rates, Resdifera represents a significant step forward in the fight against this debilitating condition.
