Illinois Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski, representing the 13th district, is thrilled about the burgeoning “bio-economy” and its potential to provide Illinois corn and soybean growers with new markets. She discussed her views on this topic at a recent conference of the National Association of Farm Broadcasting’s Washington Watch.

Budzinski emphasizes that the expansion of biofuels markets is a crucial component of this growing bio-economy. She believes that biofuels can be used to reduce carbon emissions while also supporting family farmers and growers in the state.

Moreover, Budzinski is excited about the possibility of her district being designated as a tech hub in bioprocessing and fermentation. If successful, it would bring new markets for agricultural stakeholders in the area. While a final decision on this designation is expected in the summer, Budzinski continues to advocate for it and believes that collaboration between public and private sectors could lead to its creation. In addition, she supports the Next Gen Fuels Act in Congress, which aims to develop new fuel technologies that benefit family farmers in Illinois.
