Nebraska Extension to Host Roundtable Discussion on Technology and Ranching

In recent years, technology has become increasingly prevalent in the traditional practice of ranching. As producers weigh the costs and benefits of incorporating new technologies into their operations, a roundtable discussion on technology and ranching is being hosted by the Nebraska Extension on April 16 in Kimball.

The goal of the program is to provide information about the various technology options available to producers, while also hearing from experienced ranchers who can offer insights into their advantages and disadvantages. Aaron Berger, Nebraska Extension educator, emphasized the importance of producers carefully considering their technology options before making any decisions.

The discussion will cover a range of topics, including drones for pasture and cattle management, remote water monitoring systems and cameras, calming pheromone treatments for cattle, and virtual fencing. The program will take place from 7-8:30 p.m. at the 4-H Building in Kimball, with attendance open to all interested individuals without registration required.

Interested individuals can contact Aaron Berger at (308) 235-3122 or aberger2@unl.edu for more information about the program. Cattle graze in pasture as seen in a photo by Troy Walz.
