On April 15, the seventh annual UTC Technology Symposium will be held at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. This year’s event is expected to be bigger and better than ever, with a variety of research projects created by students from local high schools as well as Cleveland State Community College on display alongside those of UTC students.

The symposium, sponsored by the UTC College of Engineering and Computer Science, will kick off with a keynote address from Greg Heinrich, a UTC alumnus and the TVA vice president of transmission operations and power supply. After the keynote address, attendees will have the opportunity to view over 130 projects in the University Center Tennessee Room.

The projects cover a wide range of topics such as identifying aging-related genes, the performance of congressional stock portfolios, the impact of socioeconomic status on education, and fraud detection in financial transactions. A panel of judges from over 40 prominent companies including TVA, Stantec, EPB, Amazon, American Express, and Netflix will evaluate the projects and interact with the students who created them.

This symposium serves as a platform for students to showcase their innovative research and engage with industry professionals. Visitors can learn more about the symposium and its schedule of events by visiting the CECS website at utc.edu/tech-reg. The public is encouraged to attend this event and witness firsthand how local students are making an impact in technology and engineering fields.
