Beilinson Hospital has successfully implemented a pilot program utilizing iCAD’s Artificial Intelligence technologies on over 15,000 mammography scans. The use of this technology has enabled the identification of previously undetected tumors, ultimately improving diagnostic capabilities and potentially saving lives by providing earlier diagnoses of breast cancer in women over 40 years old. The technology also helps create informed screening plans for individuals at risk of developing breast cancer and can determine a patient’s risk level of developing a cancerous tumor within the next two years by examining past dense tissue.

The system has now been implemented throughout the Clalit Health Services network, including mammography units in hospitals and clinics across the country. iCAD’s program has already received approval from the United States’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Ahuva Grubstein, Head of Beilinson’s Mammography Department, emphasized the importance of early detection and intervention in treating breast cancer. She encouraged women and high-risk individuals to undergo semi-annual mammography exams and highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the reliability of these scans, leading to increased cases of early detection and ultimately saving lives.

Since its initiation, the technology has supported radiologists in over 15,000 scans at Beilinson Hospital.
