Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has unveiled a new line of processors specifically designed for commercial mobile and desktop AI PCs. This news has caused AMD stock to surge, with the Santa Clara, Calif.-based company announcing that their latest chips will provide businesses with the most advanced x86 processors for AI PCs.

The new Ryzen Pro 8000 series and 8040 series processors from AMD will be available later this quarter. The 8000 series is intended for desktop PCs, while the 8040 series is designed for notebook PCs. These commercial PCs equipped with the new Ryzen AI-enabled processors will deliver next-generation performance for tasks like artificial intelligence-enabled content creation, collaboration, as well as data and analytics workloads.

In response to this announcement, AMD stock rose more than 1% in morning trades, reaching 162.86. The new Pro series processors aim to set a new standard for premium computing experiences and help businesses deploy AI capabilities across their PCs with leadership performance and security. Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager for AMD’s computing and graphics group, expressed excitement about the potential of these new processors.

AMD stock has been included in the IBD Tech Leaders list, highlighting the growing importance of AI in computing and the potential for growth in companies like AMD. Analysts believe that AMD is poised to benefit from the shift towards parallel processing in computing, which could lead to gaining share in server central processing units and AI accelerators for data centers. Companies like HP (HPQ), Lenovo, and others are developing AI PCs containing the new processors, further solidifying AMD’s position in this emerging market.
