The fiber network connecting the border crossings with Jordan from north to south is an expansion of the existing Cellcom network that spans the country. This new infrastructure will enable faster connection speeds for residents of Eilat and the southern region, providing a secure and reliable connection between east and west.

Corning, a leading manufacturer of optical fiber, has been deployed for this project due to its ability to transmit high rates over long distances. This advanced terrestrial fiber deployment is expected to attract international content providers, cloud operators, communication companies, and entities seeking backup for their existing infrastructure. With this new infrastructure in place, data transfer rates will be significantly higher than those available in international media.

The Communications Minister, Shlomo Karai, emphasized the importance of this deployment as a response to regional threats. The Ministry of Communications Director General, Einbal Meshash, highlighted how this deployment positions Israel as a strategic asset in global data traffic. With these comments from government officials, it’s clear that this new fiber network will play a crucial role in ensuring secure and reliable communication in the region.
