Renfe has announced the elimination of four daily connections (two in each direction) between Madrid and Valencia starting on April 8 and continuing through July due to expansion works being carried out at the Madrid Chamartín station. This reorganization of train services will reduce the number of daily high-speed services between the two cities from 32 to 28, while still maintaining 95% of the seats available with the capital of Spain.

The goal of the works at the Chamartín station is to double its capacity for high-speed trains and long distance services. This expansion will bring about a new daily AVE connection between Valencia and León, with stops in Segovia, Valladolid, and Palencia. Adif’s improvement works will also necessitate a reorganization of the service, impacting several tracks at the Madrid station and adjusting the operational capacity of the terminal.

Once Talgo delivers the new S106 trains, Renfe will introduce them into circulation to optimize infrastructure capacity and offer a greater number of seats on certain routes. This update will provide passengers with additional options and ensure a smoother travel experience during the construction works at the Madrid Chamartín station.
