The Utah County Health Department is seeking innovative project proposals aimed at preventing the use of electronic cigarettes, marijuana, and other drugs among youth. Grants ranging from $25,000 to $100,000 will be awarded to community coalitions, local government agencies, and education organizations that participate in this initiative.

Substance misuse among youth is a significant public health issue that can lead to negative outcomes later in life. By addressing upstream factors contributing to substance abuse, agencies can help prevent it among young people and promote positive outcomes in their development.

Research has shown that identifying risk and protective factors in populations can lead to the implementation of targeted policies and programs that reduce risk and promote safety. By focusing on evidence-based strategies, the health department aims to prevent substance abuse among youth and improve overall health outcomes for the county’s young people.

To learn more about the funding opportunity and answer any questions potential applicants may have, the health department will host a virtual Q&A session on April 15 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. All interested parties are encouraged to attend and learn more about how they can contribute to this important initiative.
