Jared Jones, the promising prospect for the Pittsburgh Pirates, recently made his first start in the majors and showed potential on the mound. Meanwhile, Paul Skenes, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, continues to shine for the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Triple-A affiliate, Indianapolis Indians. In a recent game against Memphis Redbirds, Skenes put on an impressive performance and finished after three innings with zero runs allowed on just one hit. He recorded six strikeouts and issued only one walk. Skenes consistently threw in the triple digits and made it difficult for Memphis to hit his fastball. So far this season, Skenes has made two starts for Indianapolis, pitching a total of six innings and giving up just one hit while striking out 11 batters and walking only one. As a top prospect in Pittsburgh’s system, Skenes is expected to make his MLB debut sometime in 2024. With players like Skenes and Jones in the pipeline, Pittsburgh’s pitching staff looks promising for the future.
