In 2021, Oracle Corp. was approved $65 million in state incentives by Tennessee to establish its new world headquarters in Nashville. The company’s CEO, Larry Ellison, announced this expansion plan at the Oracle Health Summit while discussing it with former U.S. Senator Bill Frist.

The decision to relocate from Redwood City, California, to Nashville was influenced by the city’s strong health care presence and vibrant culture. With over 900 health care companies and 550,000 employees in the sector, Nashville was an ideal choice for Oracle’s new headquarters.

Ellison highlighted the appeal of living and raising a family in Nashville, noting that the city checked all the boxes in Oracle employee surveys. The Nashville Health Care Council also emphasized major health care companies like HCA Healthcare and Change Healthcare that are already based in the city.

Oracle’s investment in its new campus includes plans for a community clinic, a concert venue, a hotel, and a restaurant on the riverfront. The company paid $254 million for 60 acres of land in downtown Nashville and proposed $175 million for public infrastructure improvements. Ellison’s vision for the new campus reflects Oracle’s commitment to Nashville and its growing health care industry.

In addition to bringing 8,500 jobs and more than $1 billion in investment to Nashville over the next ten years, this move is also expected to boost the city’s economy and further strengthen its position as a hub for the U.S. health care industry.
