The New York Yankees secured a 3-2 victory against the Cleveland Guardians in Game 1 on Saturday afternoon. After the game, the team made several announcements regarding player moves. One such move involved placing infielder Jon Berti on the injured list. Berti, who was acquired from the Marlins during the spring, will be sidelined due to an abductor strain. This injury occurred when Berti successfully legged out a hit during Wednesday’s game against the Marlins.

Manager Aaron Boone expressed confidence in Oswaldo Cabrera to fill in as the everyday third baseman while Berti is out. Cabrera hit a home run during Game 1 and has been sharing playing time at third base with Berti this season. To replace Berti and Maciejewski, the Yankees called up infielder Kevin Smith and right-handed pitcher Ron Marinaccio. These roster adjustments were made following injury updates within the team and after their victory over Cleveland on Saturday afternoon.
