Newman Regional Health recently reached a remarkable milestone with its da Vinci Robot-Assisted Surgical System, completing its 300th procedure. Dr. Tim Harris, the surgeon who performed the first and 300th procedures, highlighted the numerous benefits of this advanced technology. Surgeon Dr. Bradon Bitter also expressed his excitement at having access to such cutting-edge equipment in Emporia.
The da Vinci system was installed in June 2022 following approval from the Board of Trustees in December 2021. Surgeons can utilize a control system that eliminates tremors while performing procedures, enhancing precision. The system features high-tech surgical arms with robotic wrists that allow for 360-degree movement and a three-dimensional high-definition monitor with up to 10-power magnification, providing surgeons with an optimal field of vision.
This advanced technology is currently being used for various surgeries, including general surgery, gall bladder removal, hernia repair, prostate surgery, hysterectomies, gynecological procedures, and colorectal surgeries. The da Vinci system has revolutionized the way these procedures are performed by offering enhanced precision and outcomes for patients.
