In Moundsville, a ribbon cutting ceremony and open house were held to celebrate the launch of the new Renner Behavioral Health Program at the former Teletech building. The program, which is a joint venture between WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital, has been operational for about a month in the renovated space.

The Marshall County Chamber of Commerce hosted the event, which attracted officials and dignitaries from the community. WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital received a $2.25 million grant from the Renner Foundation to help establish the program, with a portion of the funds used to renovate the clinic space.

During the ceremony, Douglass Harrison, president and CEO of WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital, highlighted the pressing need for behavioral health services in West Virginia and across the country. He stressed the importance of breaking down stigmas around mental health and encouraged physicians to start referral processes for individuals seeking mental health services.

Marshall County Commission President Mike Ferro expressed his pride in having WVU Medicine expand its services in his community and acknowledged the significance of the new program. He emphasized that recognizing mental health as being just as important as physical health is crucial towards addressing mental health needs in the region.

The program offers comprehensive behavioral healthcare services that aim to improve quality of life by promoting wellness and preventing illnesses related to mental health issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorders among others.

The clinic space was designed with patient comfort in mind featuring private rooms equipped with comfortable chairs and sofas where patients can relax during their visits. Patients also have access to various therapeutic tools such as art therapy sessions and group therapy sessions.

The opening of this new program represents a positive step towards addressing mental health issues prevalent in West Virginia and other parts of America.
