Henry Ford Health is set to open a new behavioral health hospital in West Bloomfield, with Emily Sexton as the CEO of the facility. During a special episode of Michigan Matters focused on mental health, Sexton discussed the importance of mental wellness and the upcoming opening of the hospital later this year.

Sexton then joined a roundtable discussion with Elizabeth Hertel, the Director of Michigan’s Health and Human Services Department, and Eric Hipple, former Detroit Lions quarterback and advocate for mental health. Hertel shared that MDHHS has invested over $360 million in the past two years to help families receive behavioral health services, highlighting the state’s focus on behavioral health.

The facility will have 192 beds for inpatient care and is a joint venture between Henry Ford Health and Acadia Healthcare. It will be a two-story hospital building on the services already offered by Henry Ford in West Bloomfield and also serve as an academic site to educate future behavioral healthcare providers.

You can catch Michigan Matters at its new time slot of 5:30 a.m. Sundays on CBS Detroit, noon Sundays on Detroit 50 WKBD, and streaming at 9 p.m. weeknights on CBS Detroit’s website, CBS Detroit’s app, and Pluto TV. Carol Cain, the 13-time Emmy-winning senior producer and host of Michigan Matters, hosts the show.
