Despite finishing the regular season with a record of 46-36 and securing the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference, they have an opportunity to make it to the first round of the NBA playoffs by winning against the 76ers. However, if they lose, they will face off against either the Bulls or Hawks winner in a second play-in game. If they win that game, they will advance to face off against Boston Celtics in the first round. But if they lose, their season will come to an end.
On the other hand, Florida Panthers secured home ice advantage for their playoffs by defeating Buffalo Sabres. They will conclude their regular season at home against Toronto Maple Leafs before heading into next weekend’s playoffs. In terms of who they’ll face in their first round of playoffs, it’ll be either Maple Leafs or Tampa Bay Lightning, but since home ice is important for them and it’s not guaranteed that Tampa Bay would win outright as well as other teams from east coast might have a better chance of securing top seed over them so we could say that Panthers have an edge with having home ice advantage but still need to perform well to win over any team that comes their way .
