Matt and Karen Smith, a Gen X couple, have completed their mission to visit all 63 US national parks in 2010. Inspired by their friends, Bob and Sue, the Smiths have since written several books about their adventures and run an Instagram page with over 247,000 followers. They also host a podcast called “Dear Bob and Sue: A National Parks Podcast.”

The National Parks Service has reported a surge in park visitors to over 325 million in the previous year, nearing an all-time high. With this increase in popularity, the Smiths recommend visiting eight national parks during the summer months and avoiding two others.

The Smiths discovered that high alpine national parks are ideal destinations for summer travel after experiencing killer temperatures at Death Valley. In their books and on social media, they offer valuable insights, tips, and tricks for exploring these parks safely and comfortably.
