John W. Rogers Jr., a highly respected entrepreneur and business executive, will be visiting Southern Illinois University Carbondale’s Paul Simon Public Policy Institute on April 11, 2024. Rogers is the founder and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, the first Black-owned asset management firm in the United States, managing nearly $15 billion in assets.

During a “fireside conversation” with institute director John Shaw, Rogers will discuss his successful career in business, public service, and philanthropy. The conversation will focus on Ariel Investments’ pioneering concepts such as active patience, independent thinking, focused expertise, and bold teamwork. Attendees can submit questions for Rogers through the registration form or via email to paulsimoninstitute@siu.edu.

Shaw expressed eagerness to hear about Rogers’ contributions to the community and his advice for SIU students preparing for their professional careers. The event will take place at 5 p.m. in the SIU School of Law Auditorium, Room 120, with a reception planned from 4 to 5 p.m. in the law school’s formal lounge.
