During spring break, many students in Illinois take advantage of the opportunity to visit Chicago museums. However, one iconic spot, the Museum of Science and Industry, unexpectedly closed for “unplanned museum maintenance.” The museum announced that it would reopen for “normal spring break operating hours” the following day.
A later announcement from the museum explained the reason for the closure. It was revealed that military artifacts were being relocated from the museum’s archives, and as a precaution, trained military personnel and local officials were on site during the removal process. The museum decided to close to the public to ensure a safe and proper relocation.
The museum confirmed that the relocation was complete, and it would reopen as scheduled. The museum had extended its hours for spring break, opening at 9:30 a.m. and closing at 5:30 p.m. On Monday, April 8, regular operating hours from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. were expected to resume
