Breaking News

I felt the need to clear up some misinformation that was printed recently. Former congressman and Republican nominee for District Attorney Tom Marino stated he wanted to start a Mental Health Court in Lycoming County; however, one already exists. Former Judge Gray ran Mental Health Court and upon his retirement former Judge Lovecchio was to take over Mental Health Court but decided it wasn’t in his nor Mental Health Courts best interest to.

As President Judge, Judge Butts knew this treatment court was important to be continued so she added it to her already full court schedule. I was fortunate to work as Judge Butts assistant in Lycoming County, she is not only the President Judge and Criminal Judge, but she also operates all four Lycoming County Treatment Courts which consist of Drug, DUI, Veterans and Mental Health Court. For these courts to be successful, she works closely with the District Attorney, probation officers specific to each Treatment Court and agencies that are specific to the needs of each Treatment Court. So, you see, Mental Health Court already operates in Lycoming County but as most things in life, there can always be improvements.
