The County of Maui Office of Economic Development has recently released the results of its Maui Business Health Check survey, which was conducted from January to February 2024. A total of 290 businesses participated in the survey, providing valuable insights into the challenges faced by the Maui business community in the aftermath of the wildfires in August 2023.

The purpose of the survey, initiated by OED, was to gather feedback from businesses directly and indirectly impacted by the wildfires. By understanding the obstacles that businesses are facing, the goal was to identify areas where support and resources are most needed. Among the participants, 106 businesses were from Lahaina, representing a variety of industries such as tourism, hospitality, retail, food and beverage, and arts, culture, and entertainment.
