The tragic incident of the Francis Scott Key bridge collapse in Baltimore, United States, is currently under investigation. On Tuesday morning, a collision with one of the bridge pillars caused a technical failure that resulted in a blackout and the loss of at least six lives. This event has major implications not only for international shipping but also for those responsible for the estimated $2 billion in damages.

Prior to the accident, the ship had communicated its loss of control and potential collision with the bridge to the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT). The bridge restoration work began on Saturday, as local authorities faced a difficult task of clearing a full section of the bridge and creating a temporary channel for vessels. Several ships, including container ships and tankers, are currently docked at the port waiting for access.

Efforts are being made to release the cargo ship and restore access to the port, which is the 17th largest in the United States. The process will involve multiple vessels and take several days to complete. The impact of this incident on shipping operations and local economy is significant, and authorities are working around-the-clock to resolve this situation and prevent further disruptions.
