Ava Goldsmith, a senior student at Kennedy High School in Bellmore, NY, has been recognized as one of 15 students on Long Island who have earned a spot in the prestigious International Science and Engineering Fair. This event will take place from May 8 to May 11 in Los Angeles. Goldsmith’s research project focuses on breast cancer therapy and specifically on a cancer-promoting network called the “epichaperome.”

With three years of experience in advanced science research under her belt, Goldsmith clinched her position by winning first place in the 2024 Long Island Science and Engineering Fair in the Cell and Microbiology category. However, only around 1,600 students qualify to compete for nearly $5 million in awards, scholarships, and internships.
