Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian recently announced that Iran had carried out a raid on Israel. He stated that the activities were limited to a minimum level and aimed at punishing Israel. In addition to informing the White House, Iran also issued a 72-hour warning to neighboring countries, specifying that the goal was to punish the Israeli government.

Amir-Abdollahian clarified that Iran did not intend to target Americans or US bases in the region. However, there was a possibility of targeting US military facilities involved in the protection and support of Israel. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched UAVs, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles at Israeli targets in response to an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria. Most of Iran’s projectiles were intercepted by Israel with the assistance of the US and its allies.

Leaders of various countries and international organizations have called for de-escalation of tensions following the raid. US President Joe Biden reportedly assured Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the US would not participate in any retaliation by Israel against Iran. The situation remains tense as diplomatic efforts are made to prevent further escalation.
