Mike Byrns, a public health director candidate from Rhode Island, is set to visit La Plata County in person at the end of April. The Board of Health has decided to proceed with his recruitment process after Tara Hardy withdrew herself from consideration due to personal reasons.

If Byrns decides to withdraw his application, the search for a new public health director will start again. Board members plan to conduct interviews with Byrns in person and organize a public meet-and-greet event. Currently, Byrns serves as the assistant director of health at the Rhode Island Department of Health and leads toxicology efforts.

In case Byrns withdraws his application, a contingency plan is already in place to ensure a quick move forward with the recruitment process. The event for the public to meet Byrns remains scheduled for April 24 at the La Plata County administration building. The Board hopes that Byrnes will join as the new public health director but is prepared for any outcome.

As an assistant director of health at Rhode Island Department of Health, Mike Byrnes has been leading toxicology efforts for several years now. He has been instrumental in ensuring that citizens are protected from harmful substances and their potential hazards. If he joins La Plata County as its new public health director, he would bring valuable experience and expertise to help protect the county’s residents from various health threats.

The decision by Tara Hardy to withdraw her candidacy was unfortunate, but it paved the way for Mike Byrnes’s visit to La Plata County. It is essential that we have a competent and experienced leader who can guide us through any challenges that come our way in terms of public health matters.

In conclusion, while we hope that Mike Byrnes joins us as our new public health director, we understand that he may have other commitments or opportunities available to him. However, we remain optimistic and committed to finding a suitable candidate who can lead our community towards better health outcomes.

We invite everyone in La Plata County to attend Mike’s meet-and-greet event on April 24th at the administration building. Let’s come together and show our support for this crucial role in our community!
