On Thursday in Decatur, Illinois, Tony Piraino set out to break the Guinness World Record for most squats in 24 hours. He aimed to surpass the previous record of 25,000 squats set by Joe Reverdes from Rhode Island in 2020.

Piraino began his squats at 5 a.m. and continued until 5 a.m. the next day, completing the challenge within the 24-hour window. He took 30-second breaks after each set of 22 squats, with longer breaks interspersed to ensure he had enough energy for the grueling task ahead.

Despite facing challenges during his attempt, such as fatigue and soreness, Piraino persevered and ultimately surpassed his own goal of 26,000 squats by completing a total of 26,100 squats. However, video evidence of his attempt still needs to be reviewed by Guinness World Records for official certification.

Piraino’s record-breaking attempt was not only a personal achievement but also an opportunity to raise money for the Marion County Horizon Center of Decatur and Mount Zion. This organization provides housing, employment opportunities, and other resources for adults with developmental disabilities. Through his incredible feat, Piraino was able to support a worthy cause while showcasing his determination and physical endurance.

The Marion County Horizon Center is a valuable resource for many individuals who face challenges in their daily lives due to developmental disabilities. The center offers various programs that aim to help individuals achieve their full potential and live fulfilling lives. Piraino’s support will help further these goals and make a positive impact on those in need.

Overall, Tony Piraino’s successful attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for most squats in 24 hours is an inspiring feat that highlights the importance of determination and physical endurance in achieving great things. It also serves as a reminder that we can all use our talents and abilities to make a difference in our communities and beyond.
