On Tuesday night, UConn defeated K-State 4-0 at Elliot Ballpark. The Huskies needed only a two-run third inning to secure the win, as K-State head coach Pete Hughes noted that the team struggled to build an inning and put pressure on UConn’s offense.
UConn executed its matchups perfectly and made crucial plays to secure the victory. Andrew Evans took the loss after giving up two runs in the third inning, while Ty Ruhl had a solid outing in relief. Ruhl struck out two and held the Huskies scoreless in his first appearance since February.
K-State was held to just two hits by UConn’s Joe Cinnella, who got the win in relief. Despite some offensive opportunities, K-State couldn’t capitalize and UConn extended its lead over the final three innings. The Wildcats were set to play Northeastern and return home for a series against Oklahoma State later in the week.
