The Major League Soccer (MLS) team, Austin FC, is currently in the final stages of negotiations to host the 2025 MLS Game at Q2 Stadium, as reported by ESPN on Monday. The team is close to finalizing legal contracts for the event, which is expected to take place next summer.
Unlike traditional North American all-star games, the MLS All-Star Game features the best of MLS competing against select players from an international club or another league. Austin FC, an expansion team founded in 2018, began playing in the 2021 season and became the first major professional sports team in the Texas capital. In 2022, Austin FC made it to the Western Conference Final but was defeated by LAFC with a score of 3-0.
Q2 Stadium has a seating capacity of 20,738 and will be hosting its first major sporting event since it opened in April 2019. The stadium is located near downtown Austin and offers a modern amenities including high-quality turf field and a state-of-the-art sound system.
