The Emergency Medical Services for Children Program and the Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection Act were both reauthorized by the House Energy and Commerce Committee on March 12. The act provides grants to support health care organizations in offering behavioral health services for front-line health care workers, while the program offers funding for equipment and training to help hospitals and paramedics treat pediatric emergencies. If no action is taken by Congress, the law will expire at the end of this year. The American Hospital Association (AHA) has advocated for funding the program at $28 million for fiscal year 2024.
