Hendrick Motorsports continued its impressive run at Martinsville Speedway, winning for the 29th time at the Virginia short track. William Byron led 88 laps to claim victory in Sunday’s Cup race, with Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Bubba Wallace and Ryan Blaney also finishing in the top-five.

The race was marked by five cautions, including two for stage ends which totaled 15 laps. The final caution forced the race into overtime, with only 14 cars finishing on the lead lap. Unfortunately, two drivers – David Starr and John Hunter Nemechek – did not complete the race.

After eight races in the Cup season, two organizations have emerged as dominant forces: Hendrick Motorsports and Joe Gibbs Racing. Hendrick has four wins so far this season, with Byron earning three and Larson one. Gibbs has also won three times – through Denny Hamlin and Christopher Bell. Trackhouse Racing is the only other Cup team to score a win this year, with Daniel Suarez taking victory at Atlanta.
