Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) has once again taken the title of the world’s busiest airport, according to the latest rankings from Airport Council International (ACI). With 104.7 million passengers in 2023, ATL saw an impressive 11.7% increase from the previous year, although it was still below pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens praised the airport’s achievement, stating its importance for the city’s economic growth and global connections. He emphasized that ATL’s success reflects Atlanta’s vitality and global presence.
General Manager Balram “B” Bheodari attributed the entire ATL team for their dedication and passion, highlighting their shared commitment to excellence and service. Transportation Committee Chair Byron Amos stressed the significance of this recognition as a catalyst for ongoing improvement and innovation.
In addition to ATL, the top 5 busiest airports included Dubai International, Tokyo International, London Heathrow, and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. Dubai moved up to the No. 2 spot this year, jumping from its No. 5 ranking in the previous year.
