On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in the electrical panel of a strip mall located on Tropicana and Pecos in Clark County. The incident caused seven businesses to temporarily shut down, leaving several shops without power completely or partially. It is suspected that homeless individuals may have started the fire, resulting in significant damage to the property.

Jonny Galvez, owner of Familia Tattoo, and Joey Scolaro, owner of Lucino’s Pizza, expressed their concerns about providing for their families while their businesses remain closed. Both owners feel uncomfortable operating in unsafe structures and are worried about the future of their establishments. The duration of the repairs is unknown, leaving business owners uncertain about their livelihoods.

The Clark County Fire Department has not confirmed the cause of the fire yet, but it is believed to be linked to homeless individuals near utility boxes. Familia Tattoo and its wife have faced security issues and safety concerns since opening their shop last year. They have raised these issues with Colliers Property Management, which manages the shopping center, but have not seen improvement in security measures.

Lucino’s Pizza owner Joey Scolaro shared his frustration about the lack of action taken to address security concerns at the strip mall despite repeated requests from business owners. The hope for a successful business has been overshadowed by recurring issues, leaving both Galvez and Scolaro worried about the future of their establishments. Channel 13 reached out to Colliers Property Management for a response but has not yet received a reply.
