A grassfire north of Salida Airport has been successfully brought under control, as shown in a photo taken by Casey Johns.
Gibb expressed excitement about offering the presentation again and emphasized the importance of having a go-kit ready for emergencies. The go-kits include essential items like flashlights, water bottles, and first aid kits, all stored in a backpack or “Go-Bag” for easy access during emergencies such as wildfires. In addition to go-kits, the workshop will cover topics like evacuation checklists, insurance coverage, pet preparedness for disasters, and more. Attendees will have the opportunity to receive a free go-kit upon registering for the event.
Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH) will be hosting a workshop on emergency preparedness and distributing go-kits on Tuesday, May 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at A Church in Salida. This workshop is in response to high demand following a previous sold-out event at the Salida library in March. The event is open to all ages, but RSVP is required. Those interested in attending should contact Sophia Gibb at SGibb@ChaffeeCounty.org or call or text 719-207-6563 to reserve their spot, as space is limited to the first 30 people.
