The German government is considering tightening the Cannabis Act to prevent commercial structures during cultivation, according to a new draft law. The coalition aims to prevent multiple cultivation associations from operating in the same place or building to avoid the emergence of additional business models around cannabis cultivation.

Since April 1st, Germany has allowed possession and controlled cultivation of cannabis for private use, with restrictions. Public consumption is permitted to a limited extent, but there are bans in specific areas such as near schools, daycare centers, and sports facilities. Despite this general release, the German railway system prohibits smoking weed at train stations and platforms. This ban is set to take effect in four weeks, with violations being pursued starting June 1st.

The prohibition does not affect the consumption of cannabis for medical reasons, which was already permitted before its release. The adjustment to the railway’s house rules is expected to be completed within four weeks, with travelers being protected at train stations by aligning with the legal ban on cannabis consumption in specific areas.
